It was announced before few months that director AL Vijay's next movie will be the biopic of former Tamil Nadu chief minister and actress Jayalalitha, and that this movie has been titled as Thalaivi and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

Thalaivi is produced by Vibri Media, and it was officially announced that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut will play the lead role in the movie portraying Jayalalitha. With music by GV Prakash, Thalaivi has script written by Vijayendra Prasad, the father of director SS Rajamouli.

The latest news is that actress Kangana has requested the team of Thalaivi to retain the title Thalaivi for the Hindi and Telugu versions as well. It must be noted that the team had named the Bollywood version as Jaya. An official clarification on the title for Hindi version is expected soon.
