Karachi Bakery controversy hits Mumbai, Shiv Sena leader speaks out

Thursday, November 19, 2020 • Tamil Comments

Earlier this week, a video in which a local Shiv Sena leader named Nitin Nandgaokar from Mumbai was seen asking the owner of a Karachi Sweets shop in Bandra West to drop 'Karachi' from the name of the shop went viral. The video has reminded many of complaints against Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad by some political voices. Karachi Bakery is one of the most famous eateries in Hyderabad.

Sanjay Raut, the leader of Shiv Sena, has said that the video has nothing to do with the official position of his party. "Karachi Bakery and Karachi Sweets have been in Mumbai for the last 60 years. They have nothing to do with Pakistan. It makes no sense to ask for changing their names now. The demand for changing their name is not Shiv Sena's official stance," Raut tweeted out.

Shiv Sena, the ruling party in Maharashtra, has of late come under censure for witch-hunting Arnab Goswami of Republic TV.
