Karthi has begun a new initiative for farmers by launching 'Uzhavan Viruthugal' under his Uzhavan Arakattalai trust. In the first phase five farmers from the Gaja storm affected areas were selected and each was awarded a cash prize of rupees one lakh that has made them very happy.

Karthi acted as a farmer in 'Kadaikutty Singam' which was one of the biggest hits in 2018 and inspired by that has been deeply involved in philanthropic activities for their cause and his brother Suriya has already donated one crore to the trust. The intense star actor has stated that the awards initiative is just the first step and with the blessings of the public it should grow big as a mark of gratitude for the farmers who feed everyone but suffer in poverty.
