Karthi's upcoming movie will be his 29th film, and it is expected to be a period film based on sea pirates around the Rameswaram-Sri Lanka coastal region.
Recently, Karthi completed shooting for 'Vaa Vathiyar' directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and 'Sardar 2' directed by P.S. Mithran. 'Vaa Vathiyar' is currently in post-production, where Karthi plays an ardent fan of MGR. The film also features Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Keerthy Shetty, and others, with Santosh Narayanan composing the music.
Simultaneously, dubbing work for 'Sardar 2' has begun. Most of the film has been shot in Chennai, with massive sets erected for production. Featuring actors like S.J. Suryah, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajisha Vijayan, and Malavika Mohanan, the film's music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Around 80% of the shooting has been completed, with a portion filmed in Mysore, where Karthi suffered a minor leg injury during an action sequence and is currently resting.
After completing 'Sardar 2,' Karthi will work on 'Dhanaakaran Tamil,' a period film based on pirates in the Rameswaram-Lanka coastline. Meanwhile, 'Kaithi 2' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is also set to begin soon.
Additionally, Karthi is in discussions to work with director Mari Selvaraj and has reportedly heard a script from Gautham Menon. Gautham Menon is set to collaborate again with writer Jeyamohan, potentially for this project. The timeline of this film—whether before or after 'Kaithi 2'—is yet to be finalized.
