Manirathnam's ream project Ponniyin Selvan based on Kalki's masterpiece novel of the same name is one of the highly anticipated movies of the decade. The shooting of this magnum opus has almost reached the final leg and the team is currently shooting in Ooty.
While the fans are waiting for the release of this masterpiece, actor Karthi has come up with a major update on this film. Karthi took to Twitter on Thursday to officially announce that he has wrapped his portion in this multistarrer film.
Earlier in August, he confirmed that he is playing Vandhiyathevanin in this film. Vandhiyathevan is a trusted aide and friend of Adithya Karikalan (played by Chiyaan Vikram). He is often considered a spy. Jayam Ravi plays the role of Arulmozhi Varman, who is fondly called Ponniyin Selvan.
The historical drama based on the novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy has a huge star cast. The talented ensemble cast includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prabhu and Ashwin Kakumama, among others. Aishwarya is likely to portray Nandini and her mute mother, queen Mandakini Devi.
Ponniyin Selvan chronicles the lives of kings and queens of the Chola Dynasty. The film is likely to be released in theatres in 2022. The music is scored by AR Rahman, while the dialogues are written by Jayamohan. The cinematography is handled by Ravivarman and Brinda is the choreographer.
