He drinks himself’s silly kyuki wo usko nahi milli..hams to songs like "Pyaar karne waalon ki jala de lungi. Pyaar ki pungi, pyaar ki pungi".

Borrowing the vanilla from Hollywood zilla of romancers (long list) and inspiringly, badly, mixing it with the desi kulfi of bollywood sugar coated tear jerker (long list dobara) is what this 'Katti Batti' all about.

Fresh from the beating of ‘Hero’ director Nikhil Advani gears up for more. Weird harebrained characters, if not weird then caricatures with a rock group called FOSLA (frustrated one sided single love association) got it..no forget it.. that belts out numbers just meant earlier.

A 32 year old student of architecture Maddy (how true) played by Imran reminding his 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' heydays (but its eight years). Still the same eyebrows wala expression.. not bad but.. it’s a rom com so the boy meets the girl - Payal (Kangana in a spunky character but seems waiting for a strong footing).

Boy is serious.. girl isn,t so they time pass and one day end up having a live-in relationship and one day Payal leaves him.

In between both Maddy and Payal do a pathetic take on Devdas to impress Maddy's parents - who seems to be so stunned to point out the difference between an actual drunk and playing drunk son..

Anyways the writers seems to either deprived of their ‘stuff’ or given more than required to pen this rom com which has all the clichés and lacks the power to connect to any age group. Slipping from the teenage mindset and jumping from the grownups laps. Nikhil Advani's 'Kati Batti' tries everything but fails. Office brotherhood, girl's ex-boyfriend, a hot office colleague, a irritating cartoon of a boss, mother son emotions, friendships, gay jokes and more but it fails to work.

The comedy falls flat, the romance isn't intriguing enough to make us feel for the boy or the girl plus the backward forward narration muddles the process.

Imran Kangana look fresh. Both the lead have fallen prey to weak writing which is further marred by cliché mentality. It’s a rom com so college is a must. The lack of finesse in twining manipulative sugary emotions with reality as done by other makers is clearly missing.

Music fails to connect as the film. Nikhil fails terribly. The scene where Imran is frantically calling Kangana in an empty bus to replies of phone not reachable is the best scene and ironically sums up the whole thing.

The persons (target audience) you are trying to reach with this film is not reachable.. please try again later. (next time).
