An app-based cab driver from Kolkata was arrested on Thursday after he was found guilty of molesting a Bengali TV actress, who has chosen to remain anonymous.

The actress was returning from a New Year's Eve party when she booked an app-based cab. The driver allegedly canceled the ride moments after she got in, and tried to speed the vehicle. He was apparently in an inebriated state and didn't pay attention to her cries. The actress has mentioned that he molested her and she later got help when she dialed 100 to inform the Kolkata police regarding the incident.

Based on her complaint, the driver has been arrested and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. Further investigation of the matter is underway.
