Released in 2012, the thriller love story Kazhugu starring Kreshna, Bindhu Madhavi, Karunas, Thambi Ramaiah and Jayaprakash was a commercial success and was popular for the interesting characterization of the lead actors and for Yuvan Shankar Raja's music.

Now seven years later, the same director Sathya Siva, for whom Kazhugu was the debut is all set to return with a sequel to the movie. Kazhugu 2 also stars Kreshna and Bindhu Madhavi in lead roles and has Yuvan Shankar Raja composing music again.

Though the title is Kazhugu 2, this movie is not the continuation of Kazhugu and will be a new story and now it has been made official that Kazhugu 2 will be releasing worldwide on August 1. Screen scene has got the theatrical rights of the movie, which also stars Kaali Venkat and Yaashika Aanand.
