Veteran actress and producer Krishnaveni passed away in Hyderabad at the age of 103.
Krishnaveni started her career as a child artist and acted in several Telugu and Tamil films. In Tamil, she played the lead role in the 1948 movie ‘Kamavalli,’ which was based on a story and screenplay by Pudhumaipithan.
She married Mirzapuram Zameen, Megha Venkataramaiah Appa Rao Bahadur, in 1939. Later, she and her husband established Shobhanachala Studios in Chennai and produced several Telugu films.
Krishnaveni was instrumental in introducing notable figures like Telugu superstar N.T. Rama Rao, actress Anjali Devi, and music director-singer Ghantasala to the film industry.
She was residing in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, and was suffering from age-related health issues. She passed away recently, and members of the Telugu film industry have expressed their condolences.
