Kuberaa, one of the most anticipated Telugu films of the year, is all set for a mid-June release. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, the social thriller features an impressive cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Dhanush, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. However, behind the scenes, the production team is grappling with immense pressure from its OTT partner.
In a recent interview, producer Suneil Narang revealed that Amazon Prime Video, the digital streaming platform holding the OTT rights to Kuberaa, has issued a strict warning regarding the release date. According to Narang, Prime Video is adamant that the film must be released by June 20, and any delay could cost the production a ₹10 crore penalty.
“They have overtaken everything, and it all goes according to their will,” said Narang candidly. “I requested them to give me a few weeks' time, maybe a July date, due to potential delays in post-production. But they said they’ll cut ₹10 crore from the deal if I don’t release on June 20 as planned.”
Despite the challenges, the team appears determined to meet the deadline. In fact, Nagarjuna Akkineni was recently seen wrapping up his dubbing work at the studio shortly after attending his son Akhil Akkineni's wedding to Zainab Ravdjee, indicating the urgency and commitment from the cast and crew to complete the project on time.
With mounting anticipation and the pressure to deliver under a tight schedule, all eyes are now on Kuberaa as it races towards its planned June 20 theatrical release.
