Good orchestration

R Parthipan and Illayaraja are the usual successful combination. However the combo with son Karthik Raja and lyricist Muthukumaran has not been that good . The reason is that when lyrics need to be heard it is drowned in orchestra.

The first song "Enga Poyi Solluvaen" is a typical SPB number with nothing fresh or original about it.

The next "Onnu Rendu Moonu" with lyrics by Parthipan and sung by Tippu is an example of music drowning lyrics but all the same credit must be given to the music director for giving some good beats in this score.

"Adiye Kiliye" reminds you of the famous era of Illayaraja. The maestro himself croons the song and it is one of the best song in the album since it is also melodious. Three lyricists worked on it . Parthipan- Karthikraja- Kartik are credited with having written the lyrics.

Karthik raja who scores the theme music has done a fine work. This small piece of orchestration shows the creative talent of Karthikraja.

"Oru Kottaikkul" sung by Ranjith, Antriya, Sujatha and Suchithra with lyric by Muthukumaran is very pedestrian.

The Pada Pada vena by Karthik too is yet another average song.

Karthikraja's yet another masterpiece is Kudaikul Mazhai (thalatu)... a fine piece of composition. Similarly the song "Adiye kiliye" did with a violin background shows the music director's talent.

The last song "Onnu Rendu Moonu" sung the second time with Hariharan shows no difference from the first song sung by Tippu.

In short one can hear the album for some good orchestra work.
