It is difficult to argue against Kushikushigaa. It has worked very well in Malayalam (Chronic Bachelor) and Tamil (Engal Anna). Yet, success does not guarantee succees, and Kushikushigaa barely rises above the slapstick larks. Perhaps that may have been due to the convoluted story line.
Surya Prakash (Jagapati Babu) is single and committed about his bachelorhood. Circumstances see to that he falls out with Bhavani (Ramya Krishnan) who vows revenge against him. As it happens, Surya Prakash's nephew Sree Kumar (Venu) is a lovebird and falls in love with Sandhya (Nikita) who resides in a girl's hostel that is adjacent to SP's house. There is also Satya Bhama (Sangeeta) who is in love with SP. She also happens to be the sister of Ramya Krishnan.
As it happens, unbeknown to anyone SP has been bankrolling the studies of Sandhya, who is also the stepsister of SP. It is all a confusing melee.
Kushikushigaa fails to sustain the tempo of fun and lark and often comes out as contrived. The prime reason for this could be Jagapati Babu. Though his acting is above board, he doesn't have the yen for comedy nor does he have the stentorian presence to carry of the role with assurance.Ramya Krishnan's role is also not finely eteched. There are also too many characters flitting in and out of the film without having anything meaningful to do (Bhanuchander and Devan are good examples.The film has its moments through Venu and Sunil's comedy capers. Nikita and Sangeeta have nothing much to do.
The music of S A Rajkumar is also nothing to write home about.
Ram Prasad G, who directed successful films like Chiru Navvuto and Kalyana Ramudu, has let the film drift and looks hardly in control.
The film on the whole is about fun, but does not have the last laugh.
