Locust invasion has been at its worst in decades. Lakhs of hectares in Rajasthan and other States in the north have already been invaded by the crop-eating insects.

There is a prediction that, in one or two months, locust invasion will be witnessed in Bihar and Odisha. With the blowing of monsoon winds, locusts will move eastwards of India.

Fortunately, locusts won't be affecting urban areas like Delhi and Mumbai. They will overfly urban areas. They won't trouble urbanites, an FAO expert has been quoted as saying. Recently, there were rumours that Mumbai will be under attack from locusts. The local body has refuted the unreasonable fears.

South Indian States, too, won't be affected much. A report by The Hindu says that many farmers in parts of Tamil Nadu have mistaken grasshoppers for locusts. A couple of incidents have been reported from Andhra Pradesh. So far, there seems to be no much problem as per official claims.
