The countdown to Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited gangster drama Coolie has officially begun, with the film set for a grand release on August 14. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie has completed its censor formalities and, in a surprising turn, has received an ‘A’ certificate, heightening curiosity about its gritty and intense content.
Meanwhile, the film’s chartbuster “Monica” song, featuring Pooja Hegde and Soubin Shahir, is dominating playlists. Soubin’s energetic dance moves have become a hot topic among fans, further amplifying the film’s buzz ahead of release.
During the promotional rounds, Lokesh Kanagaraj addressed the addition of the song, revealing that it was a strategic move. He said, “The ‘Monica’ song was kept only for business purposes. My films usually don’t have item songs. ‘Monica’ is a charming song that won’t disturb the film’s flow. In Jailer, the ‘Kaavaalaa’ song had scope for Rajinikanth sir to dance, but in Coolie, there was no such scope. Soubin was the reason for placing it.”
Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Shoubin Shahir in key roles, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
With its censor clearance, viral music, and high-voltage star cast, Coolie is on track to become one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year.
