Anu Malik fails to impress

Harman Baweja's much awaited launch comes across with Love Story 2050. Papa Harry Baweja spearheads the direction of the film and leaves no leaf unturned with his son's launch pad and takes the same road Rakesh Roshan took for Hrithik.

Anu Malik is given the task of providing Harman with numbers to groove to/ romance his leading love Priyanka. After all he is the man behind Abhishek's debut `Refugee' and Shahid Kapur's `Ishq Vishq'.

The album opens with `Aa Gaya Hum Mein' wherein Harman makes a proclamation of his arrival with Kay Kay behind the mike. The song falls flat and in no way sounds futuristic. The compositions are outdated and is an overall dull affair.

`Lover Boy' comes in as a seductive, raunchy number but one wonders what this song is doing in this album. The composition and lyrics are lame. Anisha Chinoy gives her so called Indi-pop punch to the track that sounds silly.

`Mausam Achanak' comes in as some solace for a poor start. Shaan and Alka Yagnik team up to create some really timeless romance. The track is truly melodious and will surely provide for some pretty visuals. Shaan and Alka work it out to lyrics by Javed Akhtar who has really come a long way with his lyrics for `1942 Love Story' to `Love Story 2050'.

Shaan gives Harman the power packed launch with `Milo Na Milo' a fantastic number out to hit the chartbusters. Anu Malik excels with this track by creating the electronic feel and crooning like Michael Jackson at intervals. The visuals of the track have already given it the `hit' status and the resemblance to the Lucky Ali sung `Ek pal ka jeena' for Hrithik's debut, is already drawing attention.

`Meelon ka `comes in 2 versions with both making its presence felt. Kay Kay renders with Alka Yagnik to make one experience the waves of separation and timeless love. The promos for this track has been out for a while now and the track portrays the romantic connect between Harman and Priyanka. This is one track that is sure to grow on you.

If there is one person missing from an album targeted at the youth, then one can't miss out on Kunal Ganjawala. Kunal renders his youthfully zealous baritone for `Sach Kehna' a peppy number that provides a guy enough scope to woo his loved one. But somewhere this number fails to makes an impact and ultimately emerges as a mediocre one.

In an attempt to create a feel good track maybe the `Na Tum Jaano Na Hum' style as in `Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai' , Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar emerge with `Jaane Kaisi Lovestory' . Shaan renders at his romantic best and emerges victorious in the sad version of this track. The instruments are pleasing and arrangements too. The lyrics somewhere falls short but why worry when tears trickling Priyanka's cheeks will stand by this track.

On the whole, Love Story 2050 musically isn't the finest and if Papa Harry entrusted Anu Malik with playing Rajesh Roshan out ; Anu fails miserably as the album sums up to be just plain average.
