Team India's all time great Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is also known for his high standards off the field and selfless dedication to the game and his team.  The tag "Finisher" is owned by him as history will illustrate the many times he had effected a win from the jaws of defeat and hitting the winning runs with clinical precision.  However there are times when he knows that it is appropriate for the player at the other end to hit the winning runs as he deserves it more.  An example is in the 2014, T20 World Cup semi finals India needed to hit 2 run to win from 8 balls.  Kohli who turned the match around was batting and since he wanted his captain to finish took a single instead of playing a big shot.  Dhoni however blocked the ball he faced, smiled at Kohli and let him finish in the first ball of the following over.

Usually when legends of cricket retire they announce it in advance and their last innings becomes an opportunity to give them a grand send off with lots of emotions involved.  Dhoni himself carried Anil Kumble, Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar on his shoulders.  However when he retired from test cricket Dhoni made a surprise announcement after the completion of the third test against Australia and hence he did conciously avoided an emotional farewell that would have paid him rich tributes.   That is selfless dedication to the game and Thala Dhoni as he is fondly called by CSK fans remains the most enigmatic leader icon who lets his hard work do all the talking.
