For a long time, several attempts have been made to bring the life story of M.S. Subbulakshmi—the true icon of Indian music—to the silver screen. Now, the prominent Telugu production house Geetha Arts has taken up this prestigious responsibility.

The film will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for his emotionally resonant films like Jersey and Malli Raava. Reports suggest that actress Sai Pallavi has been signed to portray the legendary “M.S. Amma.” Additionally, it is rumored that Anirudh Ravichander may compose the music for this project.

Film critics believe there are a few key reasons behind choosing Sai Pallavi for this iconic role:

Natural Appearance: Sai Pallavi is renowned for her realistic acting and minimal use of makeup. This aligns perfectly with M.S. Subbulakshmi’s signature simple and elegant look.

Artistic Skill: As an accomplished dancer, Sai Pallavi can effectively capture and reflect the body language and deep emotions of a classical artist.

Bilingual Proficiency: Since she is fluent in both Tamil and Telugu, it will be easier to produce and market the film in both languages.

Sai Pallavi is currently busy in Bollywood, playing the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. She is expected to join the M.S. Subbulakshmi biopic after completing her work on that film and Ek Din (co-starring Junaid Khan).

While an official announcement from the production house is awaited, pre-production work and costume design are reportedly moving forward at a brisk pace.
