The Tamil film Maaman, starring Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi, released in cinemas worldwide today. Directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj and produced by K. Kumar under Lark Studios, the film follows shortly after their previous success, Garudan (2024), also featuring Soori.
Co-created by Soori, Maaman presents a family drama focused on the bond between a maternal uncle and his nephew. The story highlights their emotional ties, loyalty struggles, and generational differences.
The ensemble cast includes Rajkiran, Swasika, Baba Bhaskar, Master Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, and others, each contributing to the layered storyline.
Early reactions on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), vary widely. Viewers are particularly discussing the emotional appeal, relationships, and the film's narrative flow.
Maaman benefits from a skilled technical team: Dinesh Purushothaman (cinematography), Ganesh Siva (editing), and Hesham Abdul Wahab (music). Lyrics are penned by Vivek, Eknath, and Fernando S. Manoharan, while stunt and dance sequences are led by Mahesh Mathew and Baba Bhaskar, respectively.
Post-production and design are handled by Prasath Somasekar (DI color), J. Chandramohan (VFX), and Dinesh Ashok (publicity). Promotions are managed by Yuvaraj.
With post-theatrical rights secured by ZEE Network, the movie will stream on ZEE5, and air on Zee Tamil and Zee Thirai. Released during a relatively low-competition weekend, Maaman aims to attract family audiences. Its success will depend on word-of-mouth and critical reviews in the coming days.
