Anirudh and Dhanush have created sensation in the past more than once, with VIP rocking the music charts on all time high, Maari’s sky high expectation does not come as a surprise for sure. With Dhanush and Anirudh making strides in lyrics, composition and vocals lets see how Maari has surpassed.

Thara Local :  Ever since Maari was announced, the tag line Thara local was used as a suffix raising the expectations of a full fledged folk hardcored to Anirudh’s creativity and does justice to it profoundly. The song is almost a continuation of the super hit “Dongamaari”, yet unique in its own way. From the word go, it subdues in the “Maari” signature with a splash of rich locality and some heavy bass work in the background. So what are you waiting for, get up and fling yourself.

Oru Vidha Aasai : Get ready to walk down the retro lane, the impression of a gritty lad falling heads over heels on his lady love and his transition rendered by Vineeth is pretty commendable. Anirudh has tried his hand with a variety of Jazz elements that trot through the interludes with some meaty piano work. For a first time listener, it rather tests your patience for the composer is known for springing surprises and this track rather takes time to establish that.

Don-u: Imagine this, local lyrics fused into RnB style who are you thinking? Well, Anirudh never ceases to experiment and this time a romantic song from Alisha and Anirudh comes up with a groovy track line that blends in rap sliding over some strong electronic content. A faint resemblance to Kadhalikum Penin Kaigal, the song hooks you with its techno blended rhythm.

Bagulu Odayum: The lyrics, build up and composition are signs of a hero worship song that by the time it makes it mark is already over, a small yet power packed composition from the composer. A freakishly innovative tune looks tailor made for rich visuals and there is a large expectation from Dhanush to fire through the screen. Saavu Melam comes out through the brief number with a twist and topsy ride.

Maari Swag : Supposedly a tune for heavy duty scenes, sure to be feasted upon with the visuals. The theme has been tweaked from the title track and is already popular with the teaser trailer making rounds. Looks like the next gen ringtone is out and its sure to stay.

Thappa Dhan theriyum: Yet another light hearted folk songs gets uppish with Dhanush and Chinna Ponnu’s vocals. The song gives a Deja-vu feeling of Anirudh’s previous album, but with a movie named Maari in a north Chennai milieu this is rather expected. Blending in Nadhaswaram is the last you would expect, but that sweeps the floor off with Dhanush capitalizing rather well.

Verdict :  Hooks you Maari style!
