Actress and BJP leader Madhavi Latha has commented on a range of issues in her latest TV interview. Speaking to a TV channel, she said that she has been harassed by "sadists" in the name of love.

"Many have approached me saying they are in love with me. Once I spurn their proposal, they harass me, they see me as a devil. Nobody harassed me in the name of love when I was in the film industry. After I entered politics, I have been approached by many in the name of love. I am not talking about politicians of my party or any other party here," Madhavi Latha said.

Commenting on Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide, the actress-turned-politician said, "From Fatafat Jayalakshmi to Silk Smitha, several people have committed suicide in the film industry. Some actors like Sushant Singh are losing their mental strength at times and killing themselves. There was a time when I was depressed. I have never bothered about the lack of offers in cinema or opportunities in politics, though."

"There is no meritocracy anywhere in India. I haven't got due recognition in movies," she added.

Is she getting her due in the BJP? "If I don't get recognition, I wouldn't be in the BJP. Madhavi Latha is a brand and my party recognizes it. If my party didn't recognize me, why would they have given me a ticket to contest in the 2019 elections?" she asked.

Why did she recently say that she won't surrender to any? "There is a casting couch in the film industry. But I haven't faced such a thing in politics. Maybe because I have been outspoken against casting couch, nobody has approached me for favours so far," she answered.
