Madhura Naranga

With the 'Ordinary' team reuniting for 'Madhura Naranga', the load of expectations for the movie is quite high. One would expect the Biju Menon - Kunchako Boban team up to be a laugh riot. But, 'Madhura Naranga', which comes with the tag line 'Based on a true story' does not belong to that genre at all. There is restraint in the way the humour has been used.

'Madhura Naranga' is high on suspense and the movie tries to maintain it till the end. Three friends played by Kunchako Boban, Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav and the warm friendship they share in Dubai is brought into focus first. Kunchako Boban and Biju Menon play drivers in the movie. Into their lives enter Thamara, played by Parvathy Rateesh. She is a Sri Lankan immigrant who is in trouble with the law and is being chased by the police.

Friendship and romance forms a vital backdrop as the story unfolds. The lead trio is impressive in their respective roles living out their lives in the desert land. Nishad Koya has done well to integrate all these diverse elements into the plot and also for retaining a realistic feel.

Direction by Sugeeth is good and so is the cinematography. Music is palatable and adds to the narrative. 'Madhura Naranga' is not a laugh riot and such expectations should be dispelled with or one but be in for a disappointing ride. Laughs are situational and both Biju Menon and Neeraj Madhav has done that with perfect timing. On the whole, 'Madhura Naranga' has its touch of sweetness and tartness and very much a watchable movie which can be enjoyed with the family.
