Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has announced that he will begin work on the film adaptation of the Indian epic Mahabharata within this year. Over the years, several filmmakers in India have attempted to bring the tale to the big screen, but none have succeeded in completing the project as planned.
In a recent interview, Aamir stated that creating a film based on the story of Mahabharata is his life's greatest ambition. In another interview, he confirmed that preparations to start the project will begin this year. He expressed his commitment to beginning the scripting process soon, though it might take a few months to complete the writing due to the epic's grand scale.
Given the vastness of the story, Aamir plans to create the film in multiple parts. The casting for each part will be carefully decided based on the roles, and he is yet to decide whether he will act in the film himself. He mentioned that the project could move faster if each part is directed by different directors, similar to the approach used in the Lord of the Rings series. Otherwise, the next part can only begin after completing the previous one.
For now, Aamir Khan plans to produce the film himself and is focused on launching the project within this year.
