The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent notices to Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu in connection with his promotional activities for two real estate firms—Surana Group and Sai Surya Developers. The move comes after ED investigations allegedly uncovered fraudulent practices by these companies, which reportedly duped homebuyers.
According to sources, Mahesh Babu received ₹5.9 crore for endorsing these firms, with ₹3.4 crore paid via cheque and the remaining ₹2.5 crore in cash. The ED has summoned the actor for questioning on July 27 to clarify his involvement and the nature of these transactions.
While Mahesh Babu has yet to issue an official statement, industry insiders suggest that the actor may have been unaware of the developers' alleged malpractices. The case has sparked debates on celebrity endorsements and their accountability in such matters.
This development marks a rare legal scrutiny for the superstar, known for his clean public image. Fans and legal experts alike await further clarity as the investigation unfolds.
On the work front, Mahesh Babu is currently busy with his next film SSMB29, under the direction of SS Rajamouli.
