Realistic portrayal seems to be the buzzword in contemporary Malayalam cinema with classy realistic movies being released. 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' sure is realistic and classy and by the end of it all it the movie leaves a smile on your face. If that is not good cinema, then what is? Humour has always been a potent weapon to make the audience sit up. The natural humour in the narrative in 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' sure is entertaining. This 'pure family entertainer' is sure to win the movie more fans.

Without being overtly sentimental and dramatic, 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' manages to steal your heart. What works in favour of the movies is the way everyday life is depicted with such simplicity and a humourous perspective. Simple actions brings a smile to your face as you can emphatise with each and every character and how they react or behave. The story is that of Mahesh and his unusual revenge. He is a photographer who has his small studio at Kattapana. He lives with his old father in a modest house.

The story begins with Mahesh's missing father and goes on to various other aspects of his life including love, failure and its revenge. The plot is simple and interestingly narrated. The two hour movie is packed with such good vibes and humour that its a pleasure to sit through the movie.

Fahadh has done a splendid performance as the lovable Mahesh. His talent and ability to adapt shines through. The host of supporting cast including Soubin impresses. Soubin's trademark humour creates such an uproar that the movie looks inconceivable without him. Anusree plays the role of Sowmya, Mahesh's love interest right from his school days. Another face which stands out is that of Aparna Balamurali. Her expressive eyes and nuanced acting is sure to take her places in the coming days. Also, looks like the team has roped in many supporting cast from Kattapana who gives a realistic air to the movie.

The dialogues laced with humour in the Kattapana dialect is a delight for its natural flow. Shyam Pushkaran needs to take a bow for making the script and dialogues so refreshing. Cinematographer Shyju Khalid has had a field day capturing Kattapana on his lens. Each of the frames are beautiful. Director Dilesh Pothen has made a perfect debut with 'Maheshinte Prathikaram'. The entire Aashiq Abu team has come good with this sensible movie. 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' is a feel good entertainer told in a lively and sensible manner. It is sure to appeal to all and sundry.
