Released in 2019, Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj was one of the biggest blockbuster movies. Starring Karthi in the lead, the movie which was released on Diwali 2019 became a 100 crores grosser.

The movie had actor Arjun Das making his debut as a villain and the actor won great reviews for his performance and voice. Arjun Das is also playing an important role in Vijay - Vijay Sethupathi starrer Master directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Now it has been revealed that Arjun Das will play the lead role in a village backdrop movie which will mark the Tamil debut of Malayalam director Anwar Rasheed. Anwar Rasheed had recently directed Fahadh Faasil starrer Trance, and has directed few hits like Chota Mumbai, Rajamanikyam and Ustad Hotel.
