As a member of an NGO that is engaged in curbing human trafficking and sexual exploitation, Mallika Sherawat has staged a creative awareness campaign at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

The damsel locked herself up in a cage, suggesting that this is how victims of flesh trade, for example, are 'locked up' in brothels. "Every minute we don't do something, there is a woman suffering abuse," Mallika tweeted.

"I’m locked up in a small cage to raise awareness about forced child prostitution in India and impunity of its offenders. The cage is symbolic of a small room in a brothel in India where our little girls are locked up," she said.
