Director Midhun Manuel Thomas is now basking in the success of his latest release, ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ that starred Kunchacko Boban in the lead role. The director had earlier announced that he would be directing the second part of Mammootty’s cult hit film ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’.

Vijay Babu of Friday Film House had also made an official announcement of the project. Midhun, who is an expert in making sequels, announced the project during the 100 days celebration of Aadu 2. However, there have been no updates regarding the movie since then.

In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Midhun revealed that the sequel has been dropped. Midhun clarified that he has no plans to make the film currently, as they failed to create a good story for the sequel. He further added that they finally got a good story but the actor and director are busy with other movie commitments.

Mammootty's 'Kottayam Kunjachan' is a 1990 action-comedy flick directed by T.S Suresh Babu. The movie starred Mammootty in the title role and Ranjini played the female lead. The story which was set in the Kottayam-Syrian Christian backdrop in Kerala explored the humorous side of the actor. The movie was a box-office hit back then and the actor's dialect and attitude in the flick are still celebrated by the masses.
