Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Kannappa’ Locks OTT Release Date

After months of speculation, Manchu Vishnu’s ambitious devotional drama Kannappa has finally secured its digital release. The film, which hit theaters in June, will premiere on Prime Video on September 4, 2025, ending the suspense around its OTT arrival.

Unlike most recent releases that quickly transition to streaming, Kannappa remained absent from digital platforms, sparking rumors about stalled deals. Industry buzz suggested that leading OTT platforms were hesitant due to the steep price quoted by Vishnu. However, clearing the air, the actor-producer officially announced on X.com:

“Witness the epic, spirit of sacrifice & divinity. #KANNAPPA releases digitally on Sept 4, 2025 only on Prime Video.”

Directed on a grand scale, the film boasted an ensemble of star cameos — Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvathi, and Mohanlal as Kitara. Despite this powerhouse casting and massive pre-release hype, the film struggled to meet expectations at the box office.

Vishnu took on the titular role of Kannappa, the devout follower of Lord Shiva, while Preity Mukundhan marked her Telugu debut as the female lead.

With its OTT release now confirmed, Kannappa will get a second chance to reach a wider audience, giving viewers the opportunity to experience the spectacle from the comfort of their homes.
