Rajini, Kamal and other celebrities mourn Manobala's death paying rich tributes

Veteran film director turned actor Manobala passed away at around 1pm on May 3rd after suffering from a liver related ailment for the past ten days. He was 69 and is survived by his wife Uma and son Harish. It has been announced that the last rites will be held at their residence in L.V. Prasad Road, Saligramam Chennai at 10.30 am on May 4th and he will be laid to rest at the AVM burial ground in Vadapalani.

Politicians such as TN Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, EPS, OPS, Seeman, TTV Dhinakaran among others condoled the death of Manobala on social media. Manobala's longtime friend Radhika Sarathkumar took to Twitter to share throwback photos with him and wrote "I am so heartbroken, just this morning I called and enquired to where he was to go and visit him. Shocked beyond belief. Shared so much with him professionally and on a personal level we both learnt, laughed , fought , ate together and had long conversations about many things, he was a talented person, cld adapt well to all situations. Superstar Rajinikanth in his tribute wrote in Tamil "I am deeply saddened by the passing away of my dear friend Manobala, a famous director and actor. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace."

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan a close friend of Manobala paid rich tribute "The news of the passing away of Manobala a good friend who was a director, actor and producer, has caused great sadness. His primary identity was that of a movie enthusias. My condolences to his bereaved family, friends and fans."

Ilayaraja : "Very saddened to hear the news of the passing of my friend Manobala. who initially worked as a journalist and then as an assistant to director Bharathiraja and later directed his own films. Manobala was one of the many directors waiting in the car to see me on the Kodambakkam bridge. Later, even after the director became an actor, he would delight me by visiting me at the recording theater and talking about things related to cinema. May his soul rest in peace.".

Bharathiraja : "The demise of my student Manobala is an irreparable loss to me and our film industry. Among the many famous associates I had such as K. Bhagyaraj, Manobala was special due to him having a different school of thought and he was a unique artiste and sensitive filmmaker."
