'Manu', a crowd-funded film featuring Brahmanandam’s son Goutham and Chandini Chowdary in leading roles, has been written and directed by Phanindra Narsetti, who has made short films in the past.

The film comes with some breakthroughs. If its cinematography tricks and other technical elements are to be watched out for, its costumes too make an organic sense. "The European vintage look of florals and muted colours suiting the tender essence of the heroine's character is designed by Bhargavi Kunam, one of the leading fashion designers in Hyderabad. She didn't charge anything for herself but for the fabric. All other characters in the film picked their own costumes and did their own styling. Running around the malls and streets of the city for a single shirt or a property was pure fun and a lot of learning experience for the assistant directors," the makers say.

This crowd-funded film had contributions by friends and others from anywhere between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 40 lakh.

The film has been promoted as an epitome of experiments. Music is by Naresh Kumaran. Set Designing is by Shiv Kumar. Sound Designing is by Sachin Sudhakaran, Hariharan (SYNC CINEMA).

Nirvana Cinemas is releasing the film on September 7.
