Mathu Vadalara is totally new, exciting: Kaala Bhairava

Kaala Bhairava debuts as music director with 'Mathu Vadalara', which hits the screens on December 25. In this interview, the elder son of MM Keeravani talks about working on the film, if he has felt any pressure, his dream in life, his younger brother Sri Simha (the film's hero) and more.

Strong content

I am the first audience to my own music. And I have loved them. I hope others, too, are liking them. I came in last for this movie, after the entire cast and crew were finalized. Every opportunity is golden to me. It's not like I will do any and every subject. Luckily, my first film is strong in terms of content. 'Mathu Vadalara' is unique. The background music is there throughout the length of the film.

No pressure, thanks to friendly environment

I responded as per the director's (Ritesh Rana) vision. An emotion can be captured in different ways through music. I have always been learning by observing my father (MM Keeravani) as to how to compose the right music. First film is always tension-inducing. Everybody in the industry would want me to impress them like my father. That's a pressure point. But I didn't go through pressure. It's because of the friendly atmosphere created by my director and others. The producers, too, never exerted pressure.

A long journey

I started out as a chorus singer many years ago. I slowly tried composition in fits and starts. I would request my father to give me an opportunity. It was for 'Baahubali 2' that I tried a small score. I never learned music in a formal way. I did music for the four seasons of a 'Baahubali' animation.

Sri Simha's passion is acting

My younger brother has always been interested in acting and not music. He would always be excited about acting even as a child. We realized long ago that his first love is acting. Both him and I have taken sweet time to take the plunge. We have finally debuted now. We never ever imagined even in our dreams that we would be debuting together.

Yes, I benefit from network

It was the 'Dandalayya' song from 'Baahubali' that I got my first break. 'Peniviti' from 'Aravindha Samedha' helped me a great deal. It's a fact that I get opportunities as someone who has contacts in the industry. Till about 4 years ago, I was busy learning ropes. I was not ready to take the plunge back then.

That's my only dream

I just want to become a music director who will be remembered for my capability to do any kind of movie. That's my only dream. When my father composes a Hindi song, he does it like a native Hindi speaker. He has that knack.

My father has brought us up not as kids of a celeb. My parents want us to be proper rather than hanker after anything.
