Welcome to 'Mayabazaar,' the new film from Mammootty. The super actor who was little disturbed by the colossal flop of his last movie `Parunthu' is coming up with this slick entertainer which is all set to satisfy his entire fans with right mass masala ingredients. The movie is a humorous journey through the life of men in 'Mayabazaar', a market where scrap or parts of worn out vehicles are sold.

Directed by debutant Thomas Sebastian, the film with apt amount of action, comedy, songs and sentiments was shot in Pollachi and Kochi. Mammootty dons the role of a man called Rameshan who buys old cars, dismantles them and sells the parts. Rameshan is the son of Akri Damodharan (Rajan P Dev) who migrated to Mayabazaar from Cherpulassery. Akri Damadharan is a typical character who occasionally steals money from his son and sets on for pilgrimages.Whenever Rameshan finds his father on long tours he is very sure that some of his money is already stolen.

But Rameshan a lovable and fearless guy has a past which very few know. Rameshan often has to deal with a rival gang lead by Bhadran (Kalabhavan Mani) who causes him problems, all based on his relation with a girl Maya, who runs a tea stall in the market   Apart from these petty fights and roam around Mammooty's characters too is involved in some social activities including that of providing food to a local hospital. In one of his outings to the hospital he founds something so curious and embarrassing that is all set to change him for ever. The major highlight of the movie is this big suspense that the makers keep as a big secret.

The storyline, inspired by a philanthropist who provides food for patients in a hospital is by Govind-Ramdas, scripted to suit the screen by T A Razaaq. Tamil actor Sheela, who has been christened as Maya in Mollywood, and Tisca Chopra (Taare Zameen Par fame) play the female leads in the movie. Vincent Ashok of `Pokkiri' fame debuts into Malayalam playing the villain in `Mayabazaar'.

The others in the cast of  `Mayabazaar' includes Kalabhavan Mani, Rajan P. Dev. T.G. Ravi, Suraj Venjarammoodu , Salimkumar, Sabitha Anand, Saikumar, Bijukuttan, Master Akhil, Lalu Alex, Yamini Sharma and Anil Murali. The movie is cinematographed by Manoj Pillai while Bijith Bala does the editing. Lyrics for the songs are by Sarath Vayalar while the music is composed by Rahulraj. The two songs of the movie `Asal Aslai' and `Jil Jil' are already in the top of the charts. The movie's highlights also include four fight sequences and two dance sequences choreographed with Mammootty.

'Mayabazaar' is being produced by Saji s Mangalathu under the banner of Akhil Cinema.The movie distributed  by Ayngaran international - the big banner from Kollywood - will be released as a Ramzan release.

The movie will grace around hundred theatres on the first of October.
