Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech was peppered with a positive reference to anti-Covid vaccines. The Prime Minister said that, currently, three vaccine candidates are being developed.

"Detailed plans are in place for the large-scale production of corona vaccine and making it available to every Indian. Three vaccines are under testing in India and will be launched as soon as scientists give a go-ahead," Modi said.

The National Digital Health Mission has been described by commentators are potentially revolutionary. "It will bring about a revolution in the health sector in India. Every Indian will get a health ID which will be a repository of all the health-related information of a person," Modi said.

It has been a year since the Jal Jeevan Mission was started. Updating about its progress, Modi said, "Today, tap water is reaching more than one lakh homes every day."

The National Infrastructure Pipeline project, Modi thundered, will play a crucial role in pulling the country out of the negative impact of COVID-19. "Over Rs 110 lakh crores will be spent on this and 7000 projects have been identified across various sectors," the PM added.
