Narendra Modi is reportedly all set to reshuffle his Cabinet. The Prime Minister is believed to have decided to form a new team two years after he won a huge mandate in May 2019.

Modi has so far held six meetings with various Ministers and BJP chief JP Nadda in the last few days. On Monday night, Nitin Gadkari, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nadda were present at a meeting chaired by the PM. As per a speculative report, this was the last meeting on the issue of Cabinet reshuffle.

Speculations are rife that Nirmala Sitharaman will lose Finance Ministry and Piyush Goyal will get it. A new Human Resources Minister could also be on the cards. Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are expected to retain their respective ministries and Gadkari could come to have a greater say. A new Health Minister at a time when Healthcare sector has been exposed by the pandemic is said to be expected.

As per a report, a few big surprises are going to be seen.

Many are hoping that experts will be brought into the Cabinet. "Don’t expect #NarendraModi to change his centralised CEO style of functioning. But, he needs to bring domain expert / technocrats in portfolios like Health, Law, Disinvestment, Law, IT, I&B etc. And, better floor managers in Parliament," wrote journalist Sandip Ghose.
