Moh Maya Money Review

Expectations

Rajat Kapoor directed 'Mixed Doubles' marked the launched of small films starring Ranvir Shorey followed by the addition of other actors like Saurabh Shukla, Neha Dhupia, Vinay Pathak and others.

This team kept churning out many films out of which there were some gems like 'Mithiya', 'Bheja Fry', 'Dasvidaniya' and many more. The latest film to star some of these actors is, 'Moh Maya Money', which has been screened at various film festivals. Thus, the expectations are a bit high due to these laurels and past work of the actors.

Story

'Moh Maya Money' is a story of a land broker Aman (Ranvir Shorey) and his wife Divya (Neha Dhupia). Aman believes in earning his money by all means while Divya is a part of an international news channel. In order to buy a piece of land, Aman borrows a huge amount from the local goons. But before he could build his dream house out there, Aman's financial situation takes a huge turn and it eventually leads to series of crimes.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The screenplay especially in the first half, is bit intriguing with couple of good twist and turns..The entire sequence of Ranvir and Neha hiding their secrets with each other is engaging.

Debutant director Manish Bharadwaj comes up with an interesting story which fits properly into this genre. The film could have ended up quite well if it was executed in better way. Ranvir Shorey does his part with full integrity but has nothing new to offer..Ashwath Bhatt lends good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The story is typical and been shown is several films. The slow narrative style dilutes the flow of the film. The middle portions drags due to repetitive scenes and situations. The second half goes on an impractical mode with loads of cinematic liberties and ends up on a forced abrupt note. The connection factor is highly missing in the film. The cinematography is average and fails to enhance the quality of the film.

The director has some decent twist and turns induced into the screenplay but fails to execute it due to the slow pace and inconsistent second half of the film. Neha Dhupia has lost her sexy image and looks quite bloated in every scene of the film.

Final 'Glitz'

'Moh Maya Money' is a cluttered film, which could have ended up in a decent manner if only the direction would had been crisp and the screenplay was less cluttered.
