For the past few days, there were reports doing the rounds that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and critically acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery are teaming up for the first time. On Tuesday, Mohanlal himself took to his social media handle to put a rest to rumours and made an official announcement regarding his collaboration with Lijo. Much to the surprise of his followers, Mohanlal announced that he is indeed teaming up with director Lijo Jose Pellissery for a new project that will be produced by John and Mary Creative, Max Labs and Century Films.

Sharing a few pictures, Mohanlal wrote that he was ‘delighted’ to collaborate with Lijo, whose Jallikattu was nominated as India’s official entry for the 93rd Academy Awards. “I’m delighted to announce that my next project will be with one of the most exciting and immensely talented directors in Indian cinema – Lijo Jose Pellissery. The project will be produced by John and Mary Creative, Max Labs and Century Films,” captioned Mohanlal, while sharing a few pictures from his meeting with Lijo and team. More details regarding the project are yet to be disclosed. Meanwhile, there are rumours that the movie will be a big-budget period film, which will be based on a myth. As the critically acclaimed director and the superstar are teaming up for the first time, this announcement of the new project has become a celebration among the movie-buffs.

Meanwhile, Lijo Jose Pellissery, who had earlier helmed movies like ‘Churuli’ and ‘Jallikattu’, has already finished shooting a film with superstar Mammootty titled Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. The movie is in the post-production stage and is expected to hit the screens soon.
