Mohanlal's heroine tests COVID-19 positive

On Monday, veteran actress-turned-politician Sumalatha Ambareesh announced that she has tested positive for coronavirus. The actress revealed the news on her social media pages through a press release, that states that she developed headache and throat pain on Saturday.

Alerting those who might have come in contact with her in recent times, Sumalath urged them to get tested immediately. In the press statement, Sumalatha said, “I had developed mild symptoms of headache and throat irritation on Saturday, July 4. I decided to get tested as I might have been exposed to COVID-19 during the course of my constituency duties and tours. The results have arrived today. It is positive with very mild symptoms and I have been advised home treatment.

Hence, I have quarantined myself and going through the prescribed treatment as per my doctor’s instructions. My immunity levels are strong and I am confident that I will get through this soon with all your support.I have provided details of the persons who I might have come into contact with to Govt Authorities. But I would still urge those who have come in contact with me, if you have any symptoms, to get tested immediately, she said.

Sumalatha has done several superhit movies down south. The actress has the most number of fans following from Kerala, after her yesteryear movie with Mohanlal, titled 'Thoovanamthumbikal' became a cult classic hit. Her character named 'Clara' in the movie still continues to be the favorite of all.

Sumalatha is the wife of late actor Ambareesh. The 56-year-old actress' son Abhishek Ambareesh is also an actor made his debut with the movie Amar.
