K.G.F: Chapter 1 is an Indian multi-lingual period action film written and directed by Prashant Neel, and bankrolled by Homable Films. It is the first installment in the two-part series, followed by K.G.F: Chapter 2. The film features Yash in the lead role as Rocky, while debutante Ramachandra Raju features as Garuda. Anant Nag narrates the film while Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N. Simha, Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash appear in supporting roles.

K.G.F: Chapter 1 was released on 20 December 2018. The film was made on a budget of ₹80 crores, making it the most expensive Kannada film at its time of release. Despite the mixed reviews from critics, the film became a magnanimous success because the general audience went crazy over the movie.

The film performed well commercially and collected ₹250 crores in its entire theatrical run, breaking the record for the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time. At the 66th National Film Awards, the film won two awards for Best Action and Best Special Effects.

As Chapter 1 became a huge success, the anticipation for the sequel boosted to a whole new level. The teaser of K.G.F: Chapter 2 became the most viewed and most liked teaser in Indian Cinema. Also, The teaser went on to garner the highest views for any YouTube teaser in the world within 24 hours of its release. It won’t be a surprise if the film goes on to create history by beating the highest-grossing Indian film – Baahubali: The Conclusion.

Many factors are making the release of K.G.F: Chapter 2 bigger than ever. The film additionally features Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. K.G.F: Chapter 2 is easily the most anticipated movie in this pandemic era.

K.G.F: Chapter 2 was originally scheduled to release in theatres on 23 October 2020, coinciding with the Dusshera festival. But the release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. On 29 January 2021, the filmmakers announced that it will be released theatrically on 16 July 2021 in all 5 languages. Now, it was postponed again for the same reason.

Recently, the production team released a poster saying "The Monster will only arrive when the hall is filled with gangsters!! His new arrival date will be announced soon". The announcement denotes that the movie will release once the cinema halls are opened and the date will be revealed soon.
