ಡಾ ಕಾರ್ನಾಡ್ ನಾಟಕೋತ್ಸವ

One of the luminaries of literature, theatre and cinema Dr Girish Karnad, Gnanapith award winner, Padmabhushan recipient theatre festival is taking place coinciding with his 80th birthday celebrated recently.

The Canara Union in Malleswaram is setting a new benchmark in giving tribute to the legend Dr Girish Karnad. Four stage plays of Dr Karnad in four languages – Kannada, Konkani, Marathi and Hindi are staged at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall from 24th of May at 7.30 pm.

The four days four plays and four languages – all by one author Dr Girish Karnad is for the first time in India. Gnanapaith award winner Dr Girish Karnad is not attending this festival because of his ill health.

The plays of Dr Karnad such as Thaledanda in Kannada, Nagamandala in Hindi, Agni Ani Pavus in Konkani and Tuglaq in Marathi are performed on stage at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, Vayyalikaval, Malleswaram, Bengaluru. Each play consist of 30 in the team and it is effort of 120 persons to make this possible.
