Love never bores you is an assumption on which Telugu filmmakers usually begin their movies.

Yes, love does not bore as long as it is fresh and new. But if it stereotyped and hackneyed, like it is in Mr. Erra Babu, then you run for the exit gates.

There is nothing redeeming or refreshing in the story or its treatment. It is a story that is as old as the sky.

Mr Errababu (Shivaji) is a honest but an imbecile sort of guy who cannot, for the life of his, get past his fifth standard school exams.

As it happens, Puja (Roma), daughter of a rich NRI, comes to the village of Lankapally. You can never guess what happens next!

The duo falls in love but her father is against it as he is keen to settle her marriage with another NRI billionaire.

So the climax is all about how the two unite. Sigh! It is a story devoid of drama or delight.

Shivaji's acting passes muster, Roma also acquits herself well. But why such a movie? After seeing the movie, the question rings like Satre's existentialist queries.

Koti's music is okay. Director, debutant Kiashore, just doesn't seem to be in the grip of things.

There is just no rhyme or reason to make such a movie. The only reason as far as we can think of is that the producer was perhaps on a nostalgic trip.

The producer, Sunil Chalamasetty, if you are keen to know, is an NRI from the Godavari district who has stuck it rich abroad.
