Mrunal Thakur takes inspiration from this movie character

Cinema is a powerful medium and it can intensively affect people both collectively as well as individually. It is common to find inspiration among the characters of silver screen and adapting their qualities to make our own lives better. Actress Mrunal Thakur also draws inspiration from a movie character which compels her to be better. The character is other her own portrayal of Ananya in the upcoming film 'Toofan'. Ananya is a simple but strong spirited with whom Mrunal can easily relate.

Here's how she described the character. She said, “My character Ananya is a motivator not just in Ajju’s (Farhan Akhtar’s character) life, but also in the lives of everyone around her. She is very liberal, dedicated and a woman with a vision. Off screen, it was me who was so inspired by Ananya and the way she looks at things. Ananya believes in equality and her agenda in life is to inspire people. Now, when I wake up every day, I ask myself how is it that I’m going to inspire. I feel extremely fortunate to be an actor where I can represent the voice of the voiceless and through my films; through the subjects that I choose, can inspire the nation.”

Another reason that made the character special for Mrunal was that she got to speak her mother tonuge in this film. She said, “The best part is both Ananya and I are Maharashtrians. You will hear me speak Marathi in between because it comes so naturally. When you have actors like Paresh sir responding in Marathi, it becomes such a nice space of creativity and fun.”

Headlined by Farhan Akhtar and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, sports drama 'Toofan' will release digitally on 21st May 2021.
