CSK victory celebration: MS Dhoni breaks silence on playing for CSK in IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni on Saturday opened up about the possibility of playing for the franchise in the 15th edition of Indian Premier League. The skipper made the remark during Chennai Super Kings' IPL victory celebration held at the Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.

The celebration event was also attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, among others. In his speech, Dhoni said, “I have always planned my cricket. My last game that I played was in Ranchi. The last home game in ODI version was at my hometown in Ranchi. So, hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in 5 years’ time, we don’t really know. About his participation in IPL 2022, Dhoni said, “I will think about it, there is a lot of time, right now we are just in November. IPL 2022 will be played in April.”

Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15 last year. He recently explained the uncertainties involved in his time at CSK due to the addition of two new teams in IPL 2022. “You will see me in yellow next season but whether I will be playing for CSK you never know. There are a lot of uncertainties coming up; two new teams are coming. We don't know what the retention rules are and so on,” Dhoni had told commentator Danny Morrison before CSK’s final league match against Punjab Kings.
