Yesterday, the famous Weightlifter Karnam Malleswari celebrated her birthday and on the special occasion, it was officially announced that a biopic of her is in the making, produced by Kona Venkat and MVV cinema.

Karnam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the prestigious sports event Olympics, and talks of her biopic were happening for more than five years and now this project has been announced officially.

To be directed by Sanjana Reddy, this movie will be a multilingual, simultaneously filmed in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. The latest speculation making the rounds is that actress Taapsee Pannu has been approached to play Karnam Malleswari in the biopic and an official announcement is expected soon.
