Karthick Exclusive Interview

Ahead of his debut release Tippu, Satya Karthik shares his experience about working for the film, training received and childhood.

What inspired you to come into acting?

I was brought up in a family that`s into films and at 7; I decided to become an actor. Dad (Vizag Raju, a film distributor) wanted me to become a Police Officer, but I was interested in films, and my family too supported my decision and all that pushed me towards showbiz.

Tell us about your childhood and education?

I was born and brought up in Chennai. After my school, I moved to Hyderabad for my higher education. I`ve done MBA in a B-school.

Your perception towards films has changed after your debut?

Yeah, being a producer is different from being an actor. While making a film, you`ll think about how to pump in the money to complete the film. But acting is different, since your focus would be on how to give your best. Since I would like to make a career in acting and production and it`s my debut film, I had a tough time. But I`m glad that I`ve finished it and waiting for the result.

What`s the basic plot of Tippu?

The basic plot of the film revolves around Tipu Sultan palace in Mysore. It deals with eradicating the prevailing Rowdyism, even after the Kings and Kingdoms have gone, amid a love story.

Did you receive any training for the film for action scenes?

Yes, Venkat, a famous stunt master trained me for 6 months in action episodes. It was tough but at the same time, it`s fun.

Didn`t you think doing an action film in your debut is a gamble?

Yeah…Initially the film`s director Jagadish narrated me a story but I thought that script would suit a big hero. Later, he narrated me Tippu and I believed I would fit in the bill. I okayed the film in 1 hour and within two weeks, the film rolled out.

We heard that Varun Tej is your good friend. Do you chill out with him?

Yea, he`s a good friend and my batch mate at Satyanand acting school in Vizag. Both of us are busy in work and we hardly find time to catch up and in the next one year, I want to focus on only films.

How you do spend leisure?

I have a big home theater and I watch movies whenever I can. I also workout. I`m not a party animal and I don`t go out and would rather prefer to invite friends. Mahesh Babu is my inspiration, like he doesn`t go outside and stays reserve, I believe that`s the best way to chill out.

Why should I watch Tippu?

Industry needs young legs because I believe people always appreciate fresh content. So if the film has freshness and is unique, definitely they`ll give it a watch just to see how he did.
