My film's budget was inflated for publicity: Director Selvaraghavan

'Aayirathil Oruvan' ('Yuganiki Okkadu'; 2010), the adventure film, was written and directed by Selvaraghava. Starring Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen and others, the film has been loved by the audience on TV although it didn't do well in theatres.
More than 10 years after its release, director Selvaraghavan has confessed that its budget was inflated for publicity. The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega-budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are! (sic), the '7/G Brindavan Colony' maker wrote on Twitter.
Selvaraghavan, who is known for movies such as 'NGK', recently announced 'Aayirathil Oruvan 2', which will be released in 2024. Currently, he has wrapped up the shooting of his upcoming film 'Saani Kaayidham', which stars Keerthy Suresh. He recently joined the cast of Thalapathy Vijay's 'Beast', and is expected to play one of the three antagonists in the film.
