Actor Ponvannan, the Vice President s of the South Indian Artist Association (Nadigar Sangam) lead a delegation of Executive members to meet the Chief Election Commissioner of Tamil Nadu and handed over a request letter to him on behalf of the Nadigar Sangam.

The letter requested the Election commissioner to not ban the dramas across Tamil Nadu on account of Impending Assembly elections in the State. The letter noted that thousands of drama artists who are members of the Sangam will not be able to make ends meet if such a ban was enforced; Dramas could be conducted only in certain months of an year and not throughout the year so issuing a ban for two or three months on account of election will cause immense hardship to the drama artists.

The letter also assured that if the artist were allowed to conduct dramas they will not violate the instructions of the commission during the election period.
