Naidu has Rs.177 crores properties while Edapadi has just Rs.7.80 crores!

Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami figures at the 12th spot among Indian chief-ministers in terms of possessing wealth.

A list issued by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) features the details of properties owned by Indian chief-ministers; while the top-ranked chief-minister (Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh) owns Rs.177 crores, the lowest-ranked chief-minister owns a paltry Rs.26 lakhs!  None of the BJP chief-ministers feature in the top ten; Congress has six out of the top ten with TDP, TRS, BJD and SDF taking the rest.

Second on the list of 31 CMs after Naidu is Arunachal Pradesh’s Pema Khandu with Rs.130 crores assets; Punjab’s Capt. Amarinder Singh, Telengana’s Chandrashekhar Rao and Meghayala’s Mukul Sangma are placed at the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions.  25 out of the 31 chief-ministers featured on the list own more than Re.1 crore, making them the proverbial ‘crorepatis’.

While Tamil Nadus’ Edapadi K. Palaniswami is at the 12th spot with Rs.7.80 crores, Tripura’s Marxist chief-minister Manik Sarkar takes the last spot with assets worth just Rs.26.83 lakhs.

West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee (Rs.30 lakhs), Jammu & Kashmir’s Mehbooba Mufti (Rs.55.96 lakhs), Haryana’s Manoharlal Khattar (Rs.61.29 lakhs) and Jharkhand’s Raghubar Das (Rs.72.72 lakhs) take the top 5 places along with Sarkar on the list of ‘poorest’ chief-ministers. Five BJP chief-ministers feature in the top ten ‘poorest’ chief-ministers!
