Twitter has been witnessing the renaming of accounts of prominent BJP members with the prefix Chowkidar added before their names. While Indian prime minister Narendra Modi initially changed his Twitter account name to Chowkidar Narendra Modi, others followed suit.

As Narendra Modi is campaigning for lok sabha elections 2019, BJP has started the Chowkidar campaign, and he said that he's the protector (Chowkidar) of the nation, and that he's not contesting alone and invited everyone to take the oath to protect the nation. He said that everyone fighting against corruption is a Chowkidar.

After Narendra Modi changed his name on twitter, other BJP leaders like Piyush Goyal, Tamilisai Soundararajan, Amit Shah and many others also added the prefix Chowkidar to their names and now Twitter is filled with Chowkidar trend set by BJP. 
 

Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation.

But, I am not alone.

Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar.

Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar.
