Natti Kumar writes to CM Jagan on ideal cinema ticket rates

Producer, distributor and exhibitor Natti Kumar has penned a letter to AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy, giving some suggestions as to the ticket pricing issue. He urged the CM to impose a tax of 30% (instead of 18%) on big films if ticket rates are hiked in the first two weeks of a movie's theatrical release. Kumar also opined that 12% of the film's budget should be refunded if at least half of the movie is shot in the State of AP.

He further made the below suggestions:

GO No. 35 should continue to be in force. But the ticket prices in A, B, and C centres should be revised upwards to a limited extent.

There should be no change in the current rates in Multiplexes in A centres (Rs 250 and Rs 150 are the rates). However, the ticket prices in single screens in A centres must be revised slightly upwards by increasing Rs 100 to Rs 120.

In B centres, the current rates are Rs 70, Rs 40, and Rs 30. They should be revised to Rs 100, Rs 80 and Rs 50.

In C centres, the current rates are Rs 35, Rs 25, and Rs 10. They should be revised to Rs 80, Rs 50, and Rs 30.

On big films, these rates are better allowed for the first two weeks only:

Multiplexes: Recliner seats Rs 300 and others Rs 200.

A centres: Single screens: Rs 200, Rs 150, and Rs 100

B centres: Single screens: Rs 150, Rs 100, and Rs 50

C centres: Single screens: Rs 100, Rs 80, and Rs 50.
