Armed with awe-inspiring enthusiasm and innovative concepts, most debutantes have recently dared to narrate stories that defy the stereotypical films synonymous with Mollywood. And when the young producer, Sandeep Senan and crew has decided to name their production company as `Urvashy theatres', it was very sure that they are in the attempt for a fun movie in their debut `Nee ko Njan Cha'. With plenty of fresh faces in the cast lines, the movie is indeed a ride through the eventful lives of the current generation who are ready to go to any extent for a little fun. The movie talks about love, sex, heartaches and fragile relationships, though half heartedly.
The movie has Sunny Wayne as Dr Roshan, a cosmetic surgeon who lives `a take it easy' life. His close friend Joe (Praveen Anidil), a TV producer has just been ditched by his girl friend Ann (Poojitha Menon), a popular compere who was one of his finds . Joe, a sincere lover, ties to commit suicide, but as he is saved by his friends- Roshan and Abu (Sanju), he joins them on a trip to Goa to get rejuvenated from the ailments of lost love. But to his big headache, he finds Ann in the same beaches of Goa, flirting with the channel cameraman Peter (Shani) . But at the same time Roshan and Abu finds a few spice girls Alice (Rohini Mariam Idicula) and Sania (Merin Mathew) there, who are ready to take them to bed. But once they are into it, they are to face some unforgettable times for the rest of their life.
The sole mantra of "Nee ko Njaan Cha' seems to make you grin at the most silly jokes and playful situations, without logic, but in the midst they also pushes some sermonic messages about AIDS.Not a movie to be taken seriously, or without an intellectual appealing screenplay in place, what keeps the film going are some corny jokes and comical sequences. Despite the stress on crazy and wacky situations, the movie keeps you entertained for most parts, and hence the motive, is served. It starts on a lighter vein and maintains the tempo as the reels unfold. It only gets serious when the dilemma of catching AIDS arrives on the scene. To give the credit where it's due, the director Gireesh has been able to film a number of sequences here with needed intensity. The fine cinematography by Niel D' Kunha , crisp editing by Manoj and BG scores by Gopi Sundar are the other high points of the movie that definitely have a firm say in the proceedings.
Sunny Wayne is at his boisterous best here as Dr Roshan, with a lot of animated lines, getting the wit of the character just right. Besides, there's a lot of verve in his character; he is vibrant, energetic and is likely to endear himself to the viewer. Sanju and Siju Rose are decent, while Praveen has got fine chocolate looks but play a little' over the top' and is repetitive. The other ladies except Poojitha don't get much scope in this all boyz film.
Don't look for logic here! On the whole, uninhibited and naughty, `Ne Ko Njan Cha' is an enjoyable madcap comic caper 'with adequate frenzied moments in bits and spurts. Rating-6/10 |
